Christofle's Alfenide line was created when the company purchased the Manufacture de L'Alfenide in 1888. Rather than fully integrate the company into the parent company, Christofle allowed the company to continue producing silverware under its own brand name. At the beginning of the 20th century, de Man. Alfenide launched the famous brand name Gallia, which focused on Art Nouveau productions.
