Christofle/Manufacture de L'Alfenide - Silver-plated Cutlery Canteen - "Louis XVI Laurier" - 116-piece/12-pax. - France, c. 1920
Beautiful, antique silver-plated cutlery canteen- made by Christofle in its Alfenide line during the Interbellum, around 1920. This set - in the pattern "Louis XVI Laurier" is executed in a stylish pattern of laurel leaves, palm leaves and ribbons in the Louis XVI style. The pattern shows many similarities with the model "Marie-Antoinette" by Christofle - of which this set also contains two serving pieces. The set is suitable for twelve table guests and comes in its original wooden canteen with polished brass fittings and an inlay of brown felt.

The cutlery is in excellent condition. It has been re-polished by us and therefore shines just as splendid as it did a century ago. Some superficial scratches remain.
All pieces marked under the teeth of the forks with [Aldenide][Goat's head in diamond between 84 for Man. Alfenide]. The Christofle Fish Serving Fork and Fish Serving Knife marked [C-Balance-C][Christofle]. The additional silver parts marked 1st Minerva for .950 silver.
