Gero, Georg Nilsson - Silver Plated Cutlery Canteen- 72-piece/6-pax. - the Netherlands, 1950-1965
A silver-plated cutlery set preserved in its original canteen, in the Progression pattern Gero, Zeist. This model was designed by Georg Nillson in 1950 for the Gerofabriek and remained in production until 1965. The design still displays Nilsson's typical pre-war Art Deco influences, though it is also clear that this era is now well and truly in the past. The design is rounder and more streamlined.
The case is overcomplete and, in addition to the 6-person cutlery set, includes numerous additions. Consisting of:
- 6 dinner spoons (21.1cm)
- 6 dinner knives (22.5cm)
- 6 knife rests (7.3cm)
- 6 dinner forks (20cm)
- 6 appetizer/breakfast spoons (17.3cm)
- 6 appetizer/breakfast knives (21.5cm)
- 6 appetizer/breakfast forks (17.3cm)
- 5 pastry forks
- 4 coffee spoons
Serving cutlery:
- Soup ladle
- Gravy ladle
- 2 vegetable spoons
- Potato spoon
- Custard ladle
- Sauce ladle
- Carving set (meat knife + meat fork)
- Salad cutlery (salad spoon + salad fork)
- Jam spoon
- Cheese slicer
- Pastry server
- 3 cold cuts forks
- 4-piece hors d'oeuvres The Ouvre cutlery
There is a separate Gero storage box for the appetizer/breakfast knives.
The cutlery is in good, used condition. There are mainly minor scratches and oxidation of the silver (which needs polishing). The canteen itself is in very good condition on the inside, but the exterior is fairly worn, and a hinge on the lid is slightly loose.
