Antique Christofle Chrysanthèmes Sugar Sifter Spoon – Silver-Plated and Gilt, c. 1890
€ 70,00
(including VAT)
An antique silver-plated and gilt sugar sifter spoon by Christofle, dating to circa 1890. The Chrysanthèmes pattern was introduced in the late 19th century and features an ornate, Rococo-inspired design. Its elaborate decoration can be regarded as the forebear to Christofle’s later "Marly "pattern, to which it bears a strong resemblance.
The bowl is gilded on the inside, creating a striking contrast with the large, curling acanthus leaf in the centre, which remains silver-plated.
