Silver Plated Art Deco Coffee and Tea Service by Ercuis & Christofle, 1937

A beautiful Art Deco silver-plated coffee and tea service by Ercuis, dating from 1937, accompanied by a matching silver-plated serving tray by Orfèvrerie Christofle from the same period.

The coffee and tea service is made of silver-plated metal with elegant handles crafted from tropical hardwood. The distinctive semi-circular handles and the bands of concentric rings around the lower sections are characteristic of the refined geometric design Ercuis was famous for.

The combination of curved forms, geometric detailing and contrasting warm wood handles makes this an excellent example of the modern design aesthetic of the 1930s.

The set consists of:
Coffee pot – 16 cm / 6.30 in high
Teapot – 14.5 cm / 5.71 in high
Sugar bowl with lid – 9 cm / 3.54 in high
Creamer / milk jug – 8.2 cm / 3.23 in high
Serving tray – 51 × 34.5 cm / 20.08 × 13.58 in

Condition:
Very good vintage condition, with light signs of use consistent with the age of the pieces. There is some silver loss to the lids of the coffee and tea pots. The inside of the creamer has some tarnish/discoloration.

The serving tray marked with:
[C-Scales-C] for Charles Christofle / Christofle & Cie
[O.GALLIA]

The tray was produced by Orfèvrerie Christofle under the Gallia line, from the same period as the Ercuis service.
